Labor Day Weekend--Part Two

After the day at Sea Cliffs beach we went on to Monterey to stay at the Edgren's Beach House for the rest of the weekend (Thank you Edgrens!!)
We rented surreys, which was pretty comical! Rach and I steered one, and John and Brad rode the other (the Callaways brought bikes). The boys kind of gave us a reluctant look but Rach and I were determined (I mean how hard can it be right?...) With a few braking and steering mishaps and a push up the hill from some kind (and amused) pedestrians, we made it!

The girls...

The guys...

Drew and Alex...

Neve, Hannah, and Maren...

Sammie and Kiera...

Owen...

The girls again...(notice my sweet sunglasses)

John and I had switched sunglasses without realizing it! Everyone was a little confused but didn't say anything until we stood next to eachother and it clicked and it was pretty dang funny. Glad we could provide entertainment! How do we look?

We stopped at a really cool tree and the kids had to climb...

And get as close as possible to the crashing waves...

And a few relieved themselves...

Hilarious! That's my Jake!
On the way back to the bike shop we rode with spouses and it was quite a bit easier, except when we started racing each other on a very narrow path and caught tires and angered a few (many) disgruntled pedestrians!

After that we walked down to the beach from the house and played for hours!

They all boogie boarded (until they got too cold!)...

And sand dune jumping became the favorite past time. Beware, there are a lot of these pics and it is much steeper than it appears!!!
"Cowabunga!"

They even found unsuspecting (not quite) victims to jump over!

Then John (aka Pied Piper) got creative with a shovel and took all the kids on rides...

Of course, Owen wanted in on the action too...

Oh Owen...

Brit and I...

Great weekend...

The highlight of the day was when John tried to get rid of a dead bird on the beach...Of course, the MacGyver in him has to be creative and construct something and so he comes up with this catapult using the shovel. Needless to say it ended badly. Broken shovel and bird guts...a distance of maybe three feet. In fact, I think it hit him in the shoulder. Pretty pathetic, but oh so funny!!

Sweet move, my MacGyver!

Wow - what a fun time. That surrey is really cool, and I love the climbing tree and the sand dune jumping and shovel rides and all the cute kids playing on the beach. I also loved the catapult to get rid of the dead bird. John is a VERY clever and creative guy! Hope you're feeling better from your cold, Annie. I mailed Alex's birthday present today, so hopefully he'll get it Wednesday. Love you all, Mom

So is that how John stays so slim?

I love catching up here. It's fun to sneek a peek. If I lived closer to you I'd be coming over to your house all the time to be next to your happy energy.

all your pictures are so great!
