Arse Backwards!

I forgot about this until I just uploaded the pics from the camera! We got home from church on Sunday and I noticed that both Jake and Alex had their pants on backwards! Both of them!! Isn't that such a boy thing to do!? And of course, I didn't notice until we were home. I guess it's a good thing that they refuse to tuck in their shirts!

I just had to document it!

Song of the Birds

The other day we were walking into church and Jake says very seriously, "I love to hear the birds sing."

It was so sweet and genuine and sooo Jake...He's my little pensive guy. The best part though was when immediately afterwards all three of them busted out in song as if on cue, "Whenever I hear the song of the bird, or look at the blue, blue sky..."
Sister Hock would be so proud!

It's such a cute primary song, I have to include the 1st verse:

Whenever I hear the song of the bird or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose or walk by a lilac tree,
I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world Heav'nly Father created for me.

It's always a lesson to stop and smell the roses (or listen to the birds!) when we view this beautiful world through the eyes a child!

Spring Fever!

I LOVE the cherry blossoms everywhere! It is such a beautiful time of year! (I say, as I sneeze!--No, actually my allergies aren't too bad but I really did sneeze right then!) Anyway, we've been enjoying the good weather with some outdoor activities on the court! Sorry to those of you still in the snow!

Katherine's Baby Shower

My darling friend Katherine is having a baby girl and so my friends Mel and Darci and I decided to throw her a shower. Several months ago when she had just moved here, she introduced herself to us at the park and I'm sure she didn't realize that once you meet a couple of Mormon ladies, you instantly have a whole network of friends! She is so cute and I'm so excited for her.

Here's the mom-to-be!

Bonnie, Mel, Katherine, and Darci

The spread! Delish! Darci made this breakfast strada (strata?) with eggs, ham, artichokes, four different cheeses and seasoning that was beautiful and delicious. Mel made yummy banana chocolate chip muffins and I warmed up the cinamon rolls! (I asked my friend Karen for her recipe because she makes the best cinnamon rolls ever but it looked way too complicated so I found a good bakery instead!)

Mel's darling cake! Isn't she creative?! It was so light and yummy (her recipe is posted on her blog (the Fossons)

Gotta love the bottled lemonades from Trader Joe's!

Opening presents!

So cute!

Grandma and Grandpa Visit!

Grandma and Grandpa Lamoreaux were here this past weekend from St. George, Utah and it was so great to see them. We had such a nice time--celebrating mom's birthday, having meals prepared by Chef Terry, playing Mexican Train (a domino game), eating Baskin Robbins, shopping and hanging out and discussing celebrities and politics. They are so cute and I love them so much!

We miss you!

Drug Store Doozie

Did you know that shopping carts can flip over??
I found out today that they do!
While Hannah and her cousin Katie were in Ballet class, Aunt Lisa and Syd and the boys and I all went to the drug store to pick up a prescription and buy a birthday gift for our cousins. Owen (aka Houdini) will not sit down in the shopping cart and can get out of even the tightest of seatbelts, so I let him stand in the deep part of the cart. The kids are loud and excited to be in the toy aisle and we are getting "the looks" from other adults browsing the store. Lisa and I are busy trying to decide between the Fashion Fever Barbie with the cuter hairstyle but the bad eye shadow or the Birthday Girl Barbie with better eyes but the too-short dress. Important decision, right? Meanwhile we hear this huge crash and look over and the shopping cart has upended and Alex is laying sprawled out with the cart on top of him, Barbie boxes strewn across the aisle and Owen miraculously laying sideways inside the cart (still slightly off the ground because Alex had broken it's fall!) Owen cries for a second as I swoop him up and Lisa grabs and lifts the cart off of Alex who is sobbing, "It was an accident, It was an accident!" as he's rubbing the back of his head! I'm holding and hugging and coddling and kissing the both of them, all the while assessing the damage, (which is so minimal I say a silent prayer of thanks knowing it could have been so much worse if Owen had hit his head!) Then, of course, I have to reprimand for climbing on the cart and acting crazy in public places! "See what happens when you act up?"
Angels really do watch over us!!
Alex, immediately after recovering, asks "Mommy, do I get a lollipop because I got a major boo-boo?"

Red Flags and Laundry Bags!

So, I pick up Alex from pre-school yesterday and this is what he looks like...

Hmmm...Several red flags go off in my head:
1) he's wearing clothes that I don't recognize
2) he has a very sheepish look on his face and he's not quite making eye contact with me, and...
3) he's got the inconspicuous plastic bag of wet clothes slung over his shoulder!
You got it! "The Dreaded Accident!" Uhhh! You would think he was out playing at the little playground and was too engrossed in his dump trucks or his sand castle to go, but no, it happened right during circle time! Poor little guy! He was clearly distressed so I tried to make light of it, reminding him where to go and to hurry when he has "the feeling".

So, then we're driving home and suddenly he's yelling from the back seat,
"Mom...I gotta...go...poo!!"
What! Buddy, come on, hold it til we get home...
"Can't...hold...on...much...longer!!" "Go faster, go faster!"
I can't drive any faster!
"Faster, faster!"
Then he bursts into tears and I know it's too late! "Mommy, you didn't drive fast enought!" His little face crumples and he just starts sobbing, and I think to myself...well, at least they're not our clothes!!

Later after he's had his bath and the clothes are all in the laundry, he says to me with a very serious face, "Mommy, don't you wish we had a turbo blaster on our car?"
Classic!

Tribute to John

So, ever since I started blogging, whether it was opening up a gmail account or starting a playlist, I kept getting pop-ups on my computer every few minutes and it was driving me crazy! I told John that I was about to download a pop-up blocker to try to fix it and he told me that was the last thing I should do. (no more downloads!) So, he sits down and starts de-cluttering my computer and getting rid of stuff and it doesn't take him very long and it's like this new computer! It's faster and cleaned up and I (and the computer too, I'm sure, if it had feelings) feel like a burden's been lifted off our shoulders! Anyway, I decided it was a metaphor for our life! He is this great, calming, secure, de-cluttering force in my life and I'm thankful for him!

Love ya babe!

Karli's Visit!

Gosh, I miss her already! Karli came out last week to visit with her 6 month old Kade and despite the rain we had a great time! Aren't girlfriends just the best? We shopped in Berkeley at the Crate & Barrel outlet, ate late-night nachos and junk food, tried to watch America's Next Top Model, saw friends, and just dished and reminisced. Perfect! She is radiant and happy and super skinny again (of course!) and Kade is adorable. I wish she still lived here but ...we can't have it all, I guess!

American Idol, Anyone?

I'm not embarassed to say I'm a fan. Gotta give props to this Murray, Utah cutie. (I have a thing for baby faces!) He stole the show with his rendition of Imagine by John Lennon. Chills? Me too! Amazing voice for such a little guy! Second favorite? The hottie from Down Under--Michael Johns. (I also have a thing for accents!)
