I love this shot of John. It captures why I love the beach. The sun, the sand, the scenery, the crashing of the waves, the beautiful blue of sky and water and the peace it brings to your whole being, to your soul...
who wants to eat the sand and run straight into that beautifully dangerous ocean! (Click on this picture to see up close the sand embedded in his teeth, eyes, and neck rolls!)
It wasn't necessarily peaceful, but it was so fun on Saturday to head to Santa Cruz beach for our good friends' birthday party! Kiera turned 3 and Clay turned ?? (he'd probably rather I didn't say!) The whole Callaway clan--cousins, grandma and grandpa, etc.-- and us met for a picnic and the beach for the big day! Britt had a great spread of food and desserts and the kids had a great time.
Group shot
They frolicked in the waves...
Sweet air!
(This was his second outfit of the day! And yes, those are fingerprints on his face!)
After the beach, just our family headed over to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. John was insistent that even though we were filthy dirty and sand-logged, we were way too close to the pier not to stop and go on a few rides. The kids were ecstatic and we had a great time!! Unfortunately my camera battery died by that point and I couldn't capture the cuteness of my kids on the rides.
Next time...
Here's a shot from the internet!Fun times!

I'm soooo SAD we missed it! It's a good think they came in first place or it really would not of been worth it. We missed you all, and I'm glad you had fun.
seriously, do you people ever stay home, even for a single day?
There's nothing like the sand and sunscreen combo on a baby. Looks like fun!
That looks like so much fun! What a great idea for a birthday party.
