Oh Owen!

My beautiful, perfect baby boy went to the Emergency Room for the second time in his 16 months of life this morning. The first for a burn on the hand (touching the fireplace glass) and the second for slipping on the bathroom floor after his bath. John set him on the bath mat, turned to grab his towel, and in that second, Owen ran off the mat and slipped and fell, hitting his head on the step to the tub. He was fine, remarkably calm, received seven stitches, and was in and out, but I was devastated! He's going to have a little imperfection on his pristine forehead!
John ensures me that...

"scars are cool" ...

and "girls like scars"...

and "you don't want him to be too beautiful"
But, Oh Yes, I do!

The kids are calling him "Owen Potter" and "Harry Blatter" and think it's pretty cool. His siblings have been very cute and sweet with him. Right after John and my dad left for the emergency room  (I had to teach a lesson at church), I sat on the bottom step of the stairs and sobbed. Jake came up behind me and said, "Don't worry Mom! Hannah and Alex and I said a prayer for Owen. He'll be okay."

Dear Owen, I love you and I'm sorry! If you'd only leave your band-aids on it would really help mommy, but don't worry I'll keep that forehead covered in sunblock and polysporin and keep that scar at bay. It would help if you were just a titch less active and curious and adventurous!! But I guess that's what makes you, you, and I wouldn't want to ask you to change! But you could calm down a little so we don't make this emergency room thing a habit.

Poor little guy. I do think it looks cool though. Just adds character and will give him a cool story to make up later. Get better Owen. -Brad

I'm seeing a consistancy here. John watching owen=emergency room! J/K or not? You poor thing! I know that can be devistating when you don't know how it will turn out. (dog bite?!) Use the mederma stuff... it worked for me. Love you!

No really....the San Ramon emergency room is a pretty gross place. Be careful and safe so you don't have to go there anymore...Poor little Owen.....

You mean falling buck naked and slippery on the bathroom floor isn't a good story to tell the ladies later on?

Wow! That is a pretty good cut! Right in the middle too. I am so sorry. When Claire fell in the fire and i was nursing her legs trying to keep the scarring down, i was so worried, but they have healed so well i am shocked. Get some mederma for kids and use that for months. But Scars are cool. Battle wounds are fun, unfortunately i have to make up stories for mine cuz the real stories aren't any good :)

Oh Annie!!!! You poor thing. I'm sure you're more scarred by it (no pun intended) than Owen, and I would be too!!! That boy is crazy.

Oh poor little Owen. It is right in the middle of his face. I'm sad for you. Hopefully it will get smaller as it gets better. He'll have lots of stories to tell when he's older, about all of his emergency room trips.

I didn't even notice that scar on his forehead until you pointed it out. :) just kidding. He's still so beautfiul! I wish we would have called and let you know we were in town. I just didn't think anybody would really care. Makes me feel good you do! Next time we're in town, we'll hook up for sure.

Oh Ladd tells me the same thing. My 20 month old slipped, (on dad's watch of course) and bit through his lip. I got the same speech about girls loving scars. I told him, I'm a girl and I am not loving it. Poor Owen!

I love Harry Blatter! I do think scars are cool and that girls will definitely be more attracted to him. Is that a good thing?

Oh. Poor little Owen. The Owen Potter thing is so funny. You know, I never remember going to the emergency room as a kid, but it seems we've taken our kids plenty of times. It's so not a fun place to be.

Hi Annie!

(It's Chelsea from Church)

Those pictures are almost painful to look at, but he's healing well. His little head looks so much better today!

It was nice to meet you today and I can't wait to get to know you better:)
