Blessed Heart

Our dear friend Barbara was diagnosed with breast cancer in September and has been undergoing chemo for the past couple of months. She is a beautiful, courageous, inspirational woman and a wonderful Brownie Troop Leader and mother.
Hannah's Brownie Troop made her a quilt and were so excited to present it to her.

Each of the girl's colored and signed a square.

With Barbara's permission I am including her lovely email to the girls.

Subject: Blessed Heart

Hello Ladies and Girl Scouts,

I was deeply moved and honored to receive such a gift of the heart. The quilt that the girls and their mothers and grandmothers help make for me to cheer me on during this dark time was a true gift of love and compassion. I have been so touched by the girls desire to help support me in any way. I am proud to see our girls are learning the meaning of caring for those that may be hurting or in need. As Girl Scouts we want to promote this conscientious spirit that as a person in society we need to have a caring and helpful heart to others. As a Girl Scout we should look to each other as a sister and always stand up for each other.

Ladies I have been so blessed to have all of you rally around me and eager to help in anyway. As hard as this disease can be I have never felt alone and helpless. The strength that comes from the help of family, friends, church and people you hardly know reaching out to pray for me is priceless. I am feeling much better now and on my way to a full recovery. The chemo treatment that I am on now does not make me sick and so I can start to return to a more normal daily life. I look forward to working with you ladies and having a wonderful year of Girl Scouts!

With Love,
Barbara

Barbara has been a gift in our life and I'm so thankful for her and what she has taught the girls. Our prayers are with her always.

This is so sweet, Annie. What a great thing for the little Brownies and their moms and grandmas to do for Barbara. The girls will never forget how wonderful being compassionate and loving made them feel - a great life lesson to learn.
